Kelsey Bergey, contralto, began her singing career in Aberdeen, WA studying with Christine Hill. During this time, she performed with Aberdeen High School choirs, participated in Washington State Music Teachers Association events, and went to State in the annual Washington Music Educators Association Solo & Ensemble Contest. After high school, she attended Pacific Lutheran University, where she was a member of the Choir of the West and studied under Mira Frohnmayer. At PLU, Kelsey earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance.
After graduation, Kelsey spent nearly one full year studying voice with Denise Daverso in Olympia,WA before traveling to Italy for three months to study. While there, Kelsey studied voice with Renato Cazzaniga, travelled the country, and learned basic Italian – an essential skill for classical vocal performance. Afterward, Kelsey returned to the Pacific Northwest to pursue her master’s degree in voice at the University of Washington.
Kelsey is currently the owner of Bergey Voice Studio, LLC in downtown Aberdeen where she is building her career as both a performer and a voice instructor. Kelsey is the Secretary of the Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association for 2011-2013, and is an active member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.
